Rob Roy Hotel
Starters $13 – $26, Mains $26 – $46

This 1800’s venue is one of Adelaide’s longest operating hotels. Now run by the L.Law group, it has an air of sophistication, and the service is friendly. The menu includes pub classics like BBQ ribs and Schnitzel with chips, but what excites me is the selection of very tasty Asian Fusion and classic Asian dishes including Char Kuay Teow, Malaysia Chicken Curry, and their Signature Sarawak Laksa. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and an excellent function space out the back.
106 Halifax Street, Adelaide
Luigi Delicatessen
Starters $15 – $25, Pasta and Mains $40 – $50

At Luigi’s, it’s all about old-fashioned hospitality and a warm, convivial atmosphere. Classic Italian dishes are made with quality seasonal ingredients, and the pasta and gnocchi are freshly made in-house. Perfect for a date night or a lively group gathering, dishes are served on sharing boards. Embracing the feel of in-home dining, there’s no written menu – your server will describe the daily offerings at your table. You’ll often find Luigi himself there to greet you, adding that personal touch to your dining experience.
43 Franklin Street, Adelaide
Gondola Gondola
Snacks and smaller $16 – $28, Larger $26 – $42 Feed Me $58, $70

Gondola Gondola remains one of my favourite Asian restaurants in Adelaide. After more than a decade, it’s still going strong, serving up consistently good food and drinks. The menu celebrates the vibrant flavours of South-East Asia, with dishes that pop with colour, texture, and bold punchy flavours. The drinks list features fun and refreshing cocktails, local wines, and Asian beers. GG is always abuzz with happy diners – you’ll always walk out with a smile and feeling satisfied.
1 Peel Street, Adelaide
Canopy Bar
Snacks $5 – $18, Toasties $13 – $15, Salumi/Cheese boards $16 – $65

At Canopy, they’re serious about their drinks. Wines include a fine selection of local and international drops including a number of back vintages, and you can even try premium and top tier vintages by the glass at very reasonable prices. If wine’s not your thing, the cocktails are equally as good. But this place isn’t at all highfalutin – relax into an evening of drinks, quality grazing food and cool tunes under the mesmerising disco ball.
188 Hindley Street, Adelaide
Half & Hafu
Smaller, Sashimi and Sushi $7 – $54, Larger $17 – $28

Half & Hafu on Magill Road is popular because, to put it simply, the food is delicious! This value-for-money gem in St Morris is packed with diners enjoying a menu showcasing both Japanese and Thai cuisines. Yes, you can order your classic sushi and sashimi and a Thai green curry if you so desire – or you may prefer to stick with the one cuisine. The sashimi with green namjim dressing is a flavour sensation, and you simply must order the Truffle garlic fried rice with eel!
