Adelaide’s jewellery lovers, collectors, and history enthusiasts are in for a treat this October, as Gerard McCabe Jewellers brings back its Antique Jewellery Roadshow for a one-day-only event at the Adelaide Arcade flagship boutique on Friday, 17 October 2025.

Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural event, the roadshow invites the public to bring in their own hidden treasures, from heirloom pieces to vintage finds.

“Every piece of antique jewellery has a unique story to tell, and events like this allow us to uncover those stories and share these rare times that may be packed away in people’s drawers, cupboards or jewellery boxes,” says Gerard McCabe, founder.

A rare opportunity to uncover stories behind your treasures

Running from 9:30am to 3:30pm, the Antique Jewellery Roadshow offers 30-minute private appointments with Gerard McCabe’s team of skilled specialists, who will examine your item’s craftsmanship, gemstones and design.

Bookings are essential due to high demand and limited availability, with sessions expected to fill quickly. Appointments can be made online at forms.gerardmccabe.com.au/antique-jewellery-roadshow.

Visitors to the boutique will also be treated to a stunning showcase of rare antique pieces, including two standout items from Gerard McCabe’s permanent antique collection — among the largest in Australia.

One highlight is an English Celtic Style Smoky Quartz Cross, circa 1870, featuring Etruscan revival detailing, natural half-cut pearls, and intricate 18k yellow gold work.

One of the hardest items to make is a cross because of all the right angles and parallel lines. If you don’t get it 100% perfect, people will see an error a mile away.

The cross is described as a pristine, unworn piece, showcasing exceptional granulation and fine gallery work — a rare fusion of simplicity, elegance, and intricacy.

Another highlight is a late 18th century Georgian Ruby Cross, adorned with natural rubies, guilloché enamel, and a detachable ribbon slider for versatile wear.
