ACS has been named the 2025 APRA AMCOS Art Music Awards winner for South Australian Luminary, recognising “individuals and organisations who have made sustained contributions to Australian art music nationally and within each state and territory.” The award honours ACS’s four-decade legacy of commissioning new works and delivering artistic excellence.
A legacy of choral brilliance

Founded in 1985 by Carl Crossin OAM, Adelaide Chamber Singers has grown into one of Australia’s most acclaimed vocal ensembles. Over 40 years, ACS has won both national and international accolades, performed to audiences around the world, and nurtured countless Australian composers and singers.
Now under the artistic direction of long-time member and former Associate Conductor Christie Anderson, ACS enters this celebratory year with renewed energy and a powerful sense of purpose.
I feel incredibly privileged to be leading the Adelaide Chamber Singers during this momentous time in our history. It’s a true honour to guide this remarkable group as we celebrate 40 years of music and collaboration.
The Centrepiece: Celebrate You
The pinnacle of the ACS 2025 season is the Celebrate You concert on Saturday, 25 October 2025, held at St Peter’s Cathedral in Adelaide.
This extraordinary event brings together current ACS singers and alumni from across the country to perform two monumental works for 40 voices — one from the 16th century, and one brand new.
- Thomas Tallis’s Spem in Alium – a 40-part Renaissance motet written for eight choirs of five voices, considered one of the greatest achievements in early English choral music.
- A world premiere 40-part motet by Carl Crossin OAM, specially commissioned to mark the ensemble’s 40th anniversary.
Behind the scenes

For those who love to see music take shape, ACS is offering an exclusive open rehearsal experience ahead of the concert. In the Making gives attendees a rare glimpse into the artistic process, as Christie Anderson and Carl Crossin guide the singers through not one, but two 40-part motets.
Audiences will be invited to sit in, listen, and even engage in a Q&A with both the conductor and the composer — a perfect event for anyone curious about the magic behind the music.
Tickets for both the Celebrate You concert and the In the Making rehearsal event are on sale now via the Adelaide Chamber Singers website.
