Norma

15 May 26

Bellini’s Norma comes to Adelaide in a powerful one-night-only concert performance from State Opera South Australia, bringing one of opera’s most celebrated works to the stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Renowned as a pinnacle of the bel canto tradition, Norma is famed for its sweeping melodies and emotional intensity, including the iconic aria Casta diva. This concert staging is led by acclaimed soprano Helena Dix, alongside a stellar cast and full orchestra under conductor Brad Cohen.

Set during the Roman occupation of Gaul, the story unfolds as a dramatic love triangle between a high priestess, a Roman leader and a young acolyte, building to one of opera’s most moving finales.

This 2026 presentation adds a striking visual layer, blending music with imaginative projections inspired by space and the cosmos, creating a fresh way to experience this timeless work.
