Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi, the critically acclaimed Māori soul artist known as TEEKS, returns to Adelaide for a one-night-only performance at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday 19 November. It’s his largest Australian tour to date, and tickets go on sale Friday 31 July at 9am AEST.
If you haven’t yet experienced TEEKS live, here’s what you need to know: his rich, raw vocal range has drawn comparisons to Adele from Vogue, earned fans including Wu Tang’s RZA, and established him as one of New Zealand’s most successful musical exports.
His platinum-certified 2017 debut EP, The Grapefruit Skies, introduced TEEKS as a singular voice and earned him the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Māori Artist. In 2021, his debut album Something To Feel reached number one on the NZ Album Chart and swept the awards circuit. That year alone, he was named Best Solo Artist, Best Soul/RnB Artist and Best Māori Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards, took out the MTV European Music Award for Best NZ Act, and followed up with Rolling Stone AU’s Best New Artist in 2022.
Adelaide audiences may remember TEEKS from his performance at WOMAD Festival in 2019, or have caught him at Sydney’s Vivid Festival in 2022. He was most recently in Australia for shows in Sydney and Melbourne in February 2025. Globally, he has accumulated more than 200 million streams and 2.5 billion short-form video views.

New music, new chapter
Last month, TEEKS released his first single in more than two years. ‘My Boy’ is playfully vulnerable, challenging ideas about queerness and masculinity, and signals a new chapter of emotional candour for the artist. This tour celebrates the live performance of that new music.
Adelaide Festival Centre CEO Kate Gould says the venue is thrilled to welcome TEEKS to Her Majesty’s Theatre. “Adelaide audiences have a lot to look forward to over the coming months, with acclaimed guitarist Julian Lage in September, jazz supergroup AZIZA in October and global star TEEKS in November.”
For those who appreciate soul music with depth and storytelling, this promises to be a performance worth the night out.
