SILENT COUNTRY: Opening + Panel Talk + Electric Fields Performance

Join us at Tandanya for an evening bringing together art, music and conversation around one of the most pressing environmental issues facing the APY Lands. Silent Country explores the impact of buffel grass on Country and culture through a powerful group exhibition featuring works by First Nations artists including Sandra Taylor, Anna Dowling, Brooke Rigney and Evanna Williams.

The evening opens with the exhibition from 4.30pm, followed by a panel discussion at 6.30pm featuring Yankunytjatjara community leader Zibeon Fielding, researcher Camille Dobson and Tandanya CEO Brenz Saunders. Together they’ll explore the ecological and cultural impacts of buffel grass and the collaborative approaches needed to protect Country.

The night culminates with a live set from Electric Fields, the electronic-soul duo who represented Australia at Eurovision in 2024. For vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding, who grew up in Mimili where buffel grass is transforming the landscape, this performance carries deeply personal significance.
