Marina Prior returns to Adelaide for St John Carols by Candlelight

The musical theatre icon brings her powerhouse vocals back to Elder Park for the 82nd annual carols concert this December.

Marina Prior, one of Australia’s most celebrated musical theatre performers, will return to Adelaide this December for the 82nd St John Carols by Candlelight at Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama. Tickets are on sale now.

Prior’s career spans some of the most iconic roles in musical theatre. She played Christine in The Phantom of the Opera and has performed in Cats, Les Misérables, The Pirates of Penzance and Mary Poppins. Most recently, she took on the role of Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular, performing in Dublin, London and New York.

Having performed at last year’s event, Prior is returning to what has become one of South Australia’s most cherished Christmas traditions.

“Christmas is such a special time of year, and there is something incredibly magical about performing carols with thousands of people singing along,” Prior said. “I’m thrilled to be returning to St John Carols by Candlelight and can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with everyone in Adelaide.”

7NEWS Adelaide personalities Rosanna Mangiarelli and Will Goodings will host the event, which will be broadcast nationally. More artists are still to be announced.
