We’re going Back to the Future

Experience Back to the Future like never before with a live symphony orchestra.

Before smartphones, streaming and social media, there was Back to the Future – a film that defined a generation. Now, more than 40 years since its release, this cult classic is returning to the screen in a BIG way.

On Saturday 15 November, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra presents Back to the Future in Concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. This spectacular event sees the full film screened in high definition, with composer Alan Silvestri’s iconic score performed live by the ASO under the baton of conductor Nicholas Buc. The result? An exhilarating fusion of cinema and symphony that invites you to relive the magic, or experience it for the first time.

For ASO’s Principal Percussionist Steve Peterka, it’s more than just another concert: “Like so many, I grew up with Back to the Future, and now my kids love it too. The soundtrack has been part of our family’s connection to the film. Performing it live while watching it unfold on a giant screen is going to be unforgettable.” This event is also a rare chance to hear an expanded version of the score, with 20 minutes of brand-new music written by Silvestri especially for these live performances.

Whether you’re revisiting a beloved favourite or introducing it to a new generation, this is a must-see cultural moment for music lovers, movie fans and anyone who believes that great stories – and great soundtracks – only get better with time

Tickets start at $30 for children and under 30s, with adult tickets from $70.
