Australia’s most prestigious nature photography competition returns to the South Australian Museum with 100 extraordinary images from across the ANZANG bioregion. The 2026 exhibition is headlined by Matt Deakin’s haunting winning image of a critically endangered green sawfish gliding alongside a green turtle in Pilbara waters.
Now in its 23rd year, the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year drew more than 2,000 entries from photographers across 17 countries. The shortlisted works span landscapes, wildlife behaviour, botanical studies and powerful images documenting human impact on the natural world.
The exhibition runs from Saturday 29 August through to Sunday 14 February 2027, open daily from 10am to 5pm. Entry is $16 for adults or $14 for concession, seniors and students, with children under 12 free when accompanied by a paying adult. Book online to save.
