Australia Day 2026: Aus Lights on the River

Location

Elder Park
King William Road, Adelaide

26 Jan 26

Australia Day 2026 in South Australia offers a thoughtful and inclusive program inviting people of all ages to reflect, connect and celebrate our shared stories. Held at Elder Park / Tarntanya Wama on the banks of the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri, the day brings together ceremony, culture and community in a meaningful way.

The program begins with Mourning in the Morning, a respectful First Nations–led ceremony shaped by South Australian Aboriginal leaders and grounded in the Our Continuing Story conversation. In the evening, Aus Lights on the River continues the celebration with multicultural food, live performances, visual installations and the Aus Lights Parade, showcasing the diversity of South Australia’s communities. The day concludes with an official ceremony, live music and a fireworks finale.
