For opera’s own Casanova, it’s just another day of pleasure seeking – seducing a bride on her wedding day, breaking into a woman’s bedroom in the dead of night, killing her furious father. But Mozart’s masterpiece has other plans for the notorious scoundrel, and the gates of hell are already opening.

Opera Australia is bringing this dazzling 1950s-inspired staging of Don Giovanni to audiences across Australia in 2026, and South Australian audiences will be the first to see the national tour when it premieres at the Barossa Arts Centre in Tanunda. Presented by State Opera South Australia, it’s the perfect excuse for a Barossa getaway – world-class opera surrounded by rolling vineyards and award-winning cellar doors.
