Sauce Day 2026 at Adelaide Central Market

13 - 14 Mar 26

The beloved Italian-Australian tradition of bottling passata comes to the heart of the city when Sauce Day returns to the Adelaide Central Market this March.

Across two vibrant days, the Market will be filled with the sights, sounds and flavours of tomato season, celebrating a ritual that many families have carried out in their backyards for generations. Sauce Day honours the time-honoured tradition of gathering friends and family to prepare passata for the year ahead, and invites visitors to experience the lively spirit of this much-loved cultural practice.

Expect a buzzing atmosphere with guided sauce-making sessions, live cooking demonstrations, roving entertainment and plenty of opportunities to taste and shop your way through the Market. Chefs will showcase Italian cooking techniques, traders will offer special deals, and pop-up tastings will highlight everything from Italian cheeses to limoncello. There’s also free family fun including face painting and creative workshops for kids.

With limited spots available for the hands-on sauce-making sessions, it’s worth booking early if you want to learn the art of authentic Italian passata making.
