Opa Alfajores — meaning “wow!” in Spanish — is a small, family-run pastry shop and café that first came to life during the 2020 lockdown. Founded by a family determined to share the comforting flavours of Uruguay with Adelaide, the business has grown from a home kitchen dream into one of the city’s most beloved boutique bakeries.
“‘Opa’ is exactly the reaction you’ll have when one of our alfajores melts in your mouth!” says co-owner, Pablo Zamelson. “At our core, we craft everything by hand in our open kitchen, using premium local ingredients to ensure every bite is an authentic taste of South America.”
Handcrafted pastries, made fresh daily
The Opa Alfajores stall will feature a delicious range of freshly baked treats, made each morning to capture that just-out-of-the-oven goodness. Highlights include:
- Signature Alfajores – Tender biscuit sandwiches filled with rich, creamy Dulce de Leche, a traditional South American caramel.
- Savoury Treats – Freshly baked empanadas served with a side of house-made chimichurri, plus other South American-inspired pastries.
