We caught up with Jane to talk about the experience, her favourite moments and why buying local matters.
Q. What inspired you to get involved in Food Secrets?
JR: I’ve always been passionate about supporting local – whether it’s farmers, producers or family-run businesses. When this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to shine a light on the incredible work being done right here on our doorstep. And to do it alongside my son Eddie? That made it even more special.

Q. What can viewers expect from the series?
JR: A delicious mix of behind-the-scenes tours, cooking tips and a whole lot of heart! Each episode highlights our local food manufacturers – from handmade pasta to artisan cheeses and baked goods. Eddie shows you how to turn those ingredients into restaurant-quality meals with easy-to-follow steps, while I dig into the stories behind the businesses. It’s really the perfect blend of food and storytelling.
Q. What was your favourite dish you and Eddie prepared together?
JR: That’s a tough one! But I think the slow-braised lamb ragu with pappardelle stands out. The quality of the lamb and the pasta we used – both from local producers – was just incredible. Eddie’s a wizard in the kitchen, so watching him work his magic with those ingredients was a real treat.
Q. What did you learn about local food manufacturers through this project?
JR: I was blown away by the passion and dedication of these businesses. Many are family-owned and have been around for generations. They’re committed to quality, sustainability and keeping traditions alive. It reminded me just how lucky we are in South Australia to have such a rich food culture – and how important it is to support it.
Q. What makes this series different from other cooking videos?
JR: These videos aren’t just about recipes; it’s about the people. It’s about the growers, makers and artisans whose products end up on our plates. The Food Secrets series gives viewers a real connection to where their food comes from and shows how easy it is to create something amazing with local ingredients.

Q. Why is it important to buy local?
JR: Every time you buy local, you’re supporting jobs, families and the community. You’re investing in quality and sustainability. Plus, local food just tastes better – it’s fresher, made with care and often has a great story behind it. When you watch the series, you’ll see what I mean.
Q. Where can people watch the videos?
JR: You can watch all ten episodes of Food Secrets with Jane & Eddie on YouTube now. They’re full of inspiration – and I promise you’ll want to try every dish at home!
