First opening its doors in 1964, the Morphett Arms has long been a go-to spot for generations of locals. With its fresh new look, the hotel is once again making its mark – offering a city-style dining experience right on the doorstep of Glenelg and Morphettville.
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests back into a beautifully updated space that honours the hotel’s legacy while creating something truly special for our community today,” says Palmer Hospitality Managing Director, Martin Palmer.
“Whether it’s a casual midweek meal, a family celebration or a long lunch with friends, the new dining room has been designed with comfort, versatility and quality at its heart.”

The redesign is both contemporary and nostalgic, blending warm, earthy tones with luxe touches such as curved booth seating, Italian marble, and soft ambient lighting. There’s even a semi-private dining space for up to 14 guests – perfect for those milestone birthdays or intimate celebrations.
At the core of the upgrade is a clear focus on elevated comfort. The menu reflects that too, with a hearty seasonal line-up that showcases South Australian produce and timeless pub classics – ideal for winter dining. Meanwhile, the drinks list caters to all palates, featuring a solid mix of local wines, popular beers and signature cocktails.
Behind the scenes, the hotel continues to shine. Assistant Manager Suzee Quinsley, recently honoured with the Australian Hotelier Future Leaders Scholarship, leads the team with the same genuine warmth and welcoming spirit that long-time patrons have come to love.
Minutes from Glenelg Beach and Morphettville Racecourse, the Morphett Arms is ideally placed for everything from a lazy Sunday lunch to an after-race drink or a midweek dinner catch-up. The upgrade not only brings a refreshed look to the venue but reaffirms its place as a favourite in the west.
