A new season brings a new culinary experience at Luma Restaurant and Bar, with the release of its autumn Earth and Ember menu, designed to delight the senses while championing mindful gastronomy.
Located within The Playford Adelaide, Luma continues to build on its reputation as a refined dining destination, holding two Chef Hats and a strong commitment to meaningful, community-driven food experiences.
Created by Executive Chef Hugh Hazelwood, the autumn menu embraces the shift toward soul-warming dishes as the cooler months arrive. While grounded in European culinary tradition, the menu remains deeply connected to South Australia through the use of hyperlocal, sustainably sourced ingredients.
Playford General Manager Steven Finlayson says the experience is designed to celebrate a strong sense of place. “This dining experience celebrates place – each dish honouring the land, its stories and the people who shape South Australia’s identity,” he says.
The menu begins with wild rabbit agnolotti, paired with tarragon, prune and black truffle, served alongside a house-made mini loaf designed to soak up every last drop of sauce. A standout dish follows with oyster ice cream, complemented by cucumber, dill, sea herbs and Oscietra caviar.

For the main course, Black Angus beef fillet showcases South Australia’s cattle farming heritage, accompanied by heirloom beetroot, potato and horseradish. A refreshing Riverland pink grapefruit and Hentley Farm sorbet cleanses the palate before the experience concludes with Luma’s signature Playford Bombe Alaska.

Rooted in sustainability and seasonality, the Earth and Ember menu reflects a low-impact, farm-to-plate philosophy. The autumn 2026 offering also reinforces The Playford Hotel’s identity as a proudly locally owned destination.
Priced at $145 per person, the Earth and Ember set menu includes a take-away gift, adding an extra touch to the experience.
