Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here, and with it comes a simple but powerful reminder: sometimes the most important conversations happen over a cup of tea.
The numbers are confronting. Fifty-six Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. Over a lifetime, one in seven women and one in 612 men will receive a breast cancer diagnosis. Behind those statistics are real people, and the conversations we have with them can make a genuine difference.
A life-changing cuppa
Tetley Tea and Breast Cancer Network Australia have launched a new campaign called A Life-Changing Cuppa, built around something many of us do without thinking: putting the kettle on.
The idea is straightforward. Use that familiar ritual as a starting point for conversations that matter. Talk to relatives about family medical history. Share experiences with friends. Encourage those around you to know what’s normal for their own bodies and to watch for changes.
These conversations can provide strength to those who need it and share knowledge with those who might not know what to look out for.

Know your normal
Breast cancer awareness goes beyond wearing pink. It means understanding your own body well enough to notice when something changes. It means asking questions about your family’s health history. And it means creating space for others to talk about their concerns or experiences.
For many people, raising these topics can feel awkward or confronting. But a quiet moment with someone you trust, tea in hand, can make it easier to start.
Supporting BCNA
As part of its ongoing partnership with Breast Cancer Network Australia, Tetley Tea will donate five cents from every pink pack sold in Australia to help fund information, resources and support for people affected by breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Network Australia provides vital services to those navigating diagnosis, treatment and life beyond. Every contribution helps ensure people affected by breast cancer have access to the support they need.
This October, consider making space for a conversation you might have been putting off. Whether it’s checking in with a friend, asking your mother about family history, or simply encouraging someone to see their GP, the words you share could be life-changing.
