Adelaide sees in the new year twice. At 9pm the first fireworks light up the River Torrens, and three hours later the city does it all again. Whether you’re celebrating with the grandkids, a group of friends or a glass of something cold on a balcony, there’s a way to see New Year’s Eve fireworks in Adelaide that suits your plans.
Here’s where to watch the fireworks in 2026, in the city, by the sea and further afield.
Elder Park, Adelaide CBD
Fireworks: 9pm and midnight | Free
The city’s main celebration takes over Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama on the banks of the River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri from 5.30pm on 31 December. Entry is free, and there are two fireworks displays over the river at 9pm and midnight.
The 9pm show draws families. Midnight brings the bigger crowd. Either way, a picnic rug and an early arrival will get you a spot with a clear view of the water.

Lucky’s Club House, Festival Terrace
Ticketed | Booking essential
For a more grown-up New Year’s Eve, Lucky’s Club House sits on the Festival Terrace balcony, directly above Elder Park. This year marks the tenth edition of Lucky’s NYE, and the event has sold out every year so far.
Private booths for groups of 12 to 20 and high bar tables for eight are available, with views across the river towards Adelaide Oval. Subscribers get first access to tickets before the public release, so register early at luckysclubhouse.com.au.
Glenelg
Fireworks: 9.30pm and midnight | Free
Holdfast Bay’s NYE at the Bay sets up on the beach north of the Jetty, with music, food and fireworks over the water. Last year it ran from 7pm, with an early display at 9.30pm and a midnight show to finish.
It’s lively and very popular, so catch the tram and allow plenty of time.

Brighton Beach
Fireworks: 9.30pm | Free
For a gentler night, Brighton puts on its own fireworks, timed to go off with Glenelg’s 9.30pm display. You get the sea, the sky and the colour without the Glenelg crush. It’s an easy one to pair with an early dinner nearby.
Semaphore
Free | 2026 times to be confirmed
The Semaphore foreshore hosts one of the state’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations, with up to 80,000 people at last year’s event. There’s plenty of room to spread out on the grass and sand, and the jetty and esplanade make a fine backdrop.
New Year’s Eve fireworks in regional SA
If you’re spending the holidays out of town, these coastal and river towns put on a good show:
- Victor Harbor: Fireworks over Warland Reserve, with an early display around 9.45pm and another at midnight in recent years. Book a table in town and walk down afterwards.
- Robe: Fireworks over Guichen Bay from around 9.30pm. It’s a fine way to end the year on the Limestone Coast.
- Murray Bridge: Celebrations at the Wharf Precinct, Sturt Reserve, from 5pm, beside the Murray.

Tips for New Year’s Eve in Adelaide
- Take public transport. Roads close and parking near Elder Park and Glenelg disappears early. Check Adelaide Metro for extra New Year’s Eve services.
- Arrive early and make an evening of it. The best spots fill up hours ahead. Bring a picnic and a low chair.
- Check the rules. Many council events are alcohol-free and don’t allow glass, so check before you pack the champagne.
- Choose your show. The 9pm and 9.30pm displays are quieter and get you home at a civilised hour. Midnight means bigger crowds and a later night.
- Watching with the grandkids? Bring earmuffs for little ones, and agree on a meeting spot before the crowds build.
