In the true spirit of Christmas, Adelaide Central Market is once again spreading festive cheer, generously supplying local charity Catherine House with the fresh produce needed to create a memorable Christmas Day feast.
Now celebrating its sixth year, the much-loved partnership ensures around 70 women experiencing homelessness will enjoy a beautiful Christmas lunch, made possible through the generosity of Market traders. Those contributing fresh produce and speciality foods include Con’s Fine Foods, O’Connell’s Meats, Angelakis Bros, Jagger Fine Foods, Providore, SA Central Fresh and Skala Bakery.
Catherine House is South Australia’s only recovery-based service dedicated to supporting women experiencing homelessness, providing crisis and longer-term accommodation alongside vital wraparound support.
Adelaide Central Market General Manager Fabienne Reilly says the Market is proud to continue its support this festive season.
“We are absolutely thrilled to support Catherine House again in 2025, with both monthly food deliveries and ingredients for Christmas Day lunch,” she says.
Our traders are proud of the partnership they have fostered with Catherine House over the past few years. It’s truly special to have the opportunity to donate fresh produce and speciality foods so that women doing it tough can enjoy Christmas lunch with all the trimmings.
Catherine House Director Julie Duncan says the organisation is deeply grateful for the Market’s ongoing commitment.
“This year Catherine House together with the Adelaide Central Market as well as their wonderful traders, will celebrate six years of our Christmas Day partnership,” she says.
“This partnership ensures women who are supported by our service will enjoy local meat, seafood, fresh produce and baked goods for a Christmas Lunch they are always so grateful for. Each year we love visiting the market and feeling an overwhelming sense of care and support from Market traders.”
