Chalking up the accolades

For a consecutive year, McLaren Vale's Chalk Hill Wines has proudly brought home a trophy from the esteemed National Wine Show of Australia — a true benchmark of excellence in the Australian wine industry.

This year, it’s the winery’s 2023 Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache that has captured the judges’ attention, taking out the coveted Trophy for Best Alternate Red Blends. That places Chalk Hill among the top 23 trophy winners nationally, and notably, one of only five to represent South Australia.

The 2022 vintage was previously crowned Best Wine of Show at the McLaren Vale Wine Show, and now the 2023 vintage has cemented its status on the national stage.

Chalk Hill Wines talented winemaker, Renae Hirsch, passion and expertise continue to earn well-deserved acclaim: “Her dedication and talent continue to be recognised around the country. We’re incredibly proud of what she’s achieved!” says the team.

If you’ve yet to experience the 2023 Tempranillo Grenache — or even if it’s already a regular on your table — now is a perfect time to revisit it.

“It’s drinking beautifully right now, and this award is only going to make it harder to keep in stock,” says Chalk Hill Wines.
