The Old Bush Inn: A fresh take on a Willunga classic

A beautifully arranged table featuring an assortment of food dishes and a bottle of wine, ready for a meal.
Perched at the top of Willunga’s historic High Street, the Old Bush Inn has been known as the town’s 'Top Pub' for generations, and it’s living up to the name more than ever.

The 185-year-old watering hole has been given a fresh lease on life by the trio behind Aldinga’s Silver Sands Beach Club, blending classic country charm with a sharp, seasonal menu and a welcoming local vibe.

Chef and co-owner Stefano Longhi, who also leads the kitchen at Silver Sands, keeps things true to pub tradition with hearty favourites like pot pies, parmigiana, and a crowd-pleasing chicken caesar with buttermilk dressing. But expect a few nods to his northern Italian roots, with dishes like slow-braised lamb ragu and confit duck sitting comfortably alongside the classics.

The must-try? The fish pie — a house favourite that’s fast become a local legend.

The drinks list is just as considered. You’ll find a tidy one-pager of wines that leans heavily on nearby McLaren Vale producers, a solid selection of cold beers on tap, and a few classic cocktails for good measure. Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, there’s a seat for you at the bar.

Live music, warm service, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere you only find in a true country pub make the Old Bush Inn a standout on the Fleurieu. It’s proof that with the right touch, some old favourites only get better with age.
