The Christmasettes brings festive nostalgia to the Capri Theatre

A brand-new Christmas production is set to fill the Capri Theatre with sequins, sass and holiday spectacle this December. The Christmasettes brings together more than 25 performers for two shows only, promising high-energy dance, chorus lines and comedic twists on the Christmas classics we return to year after year.

Joining the cast is internationally renowned entertainer Hans, bringing his signature wit and larger-than-life stage presence to the production. Australian audiences know Hans from his regular appearances on Sunrise and Today, while international viewers may remember his memorable turn on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

The show takes inspiration from the Christmas movies, music and moments that instantly make you feel like the season has arrived. Expect colourful choreography, dazzling costumes and favourite festive scenes reimagined through tap, dance and plenty of glamour.

“The Christmasettes will have everyone in such a great mood because it’s a trip down memory lane and a chance to experience some of those Christmas moments we all know and love in a live setting,” says co-founder Carmel Margaritis. “There are certain movies and songs that instantly make you feel like Christmas has arrived. We wanted to take that feeling and turn it into a live experience that’s fun, glamorous and full of energy.”

Co-founder Jenna Maiolo says the all-ages production has been designed to bring people together. “There’s something about Christmas that brings everyone together, and that’s exactly what we want this show to do. Seeing the Christmas classics we all love performed with a local twist will have everyone smiling. Adelaide has so many incredibly talented performers and we’re bringing them together on one stage for a special celebration.”

The creative team

The Christmasettes is co-founded by Carmel Margaritis, Jenna Maiolo and Maree Hopgood. Carmel and Maree launched Bellarouge in 2010, a dance troupe that has become Adelaide’s go-to name for premium live entertainment. Between them, they bring more than 50 years of industry experience, having shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Australian entertainment. Both trained in calisthenics and competed nationally, with Carmel also trained in ballet and having choreographed for the Adelaide 36ers dancing team, while Maree has danced for the Adelaide Crows, Adelaide 36ers and Hans.

Jenna Maiolo is the Managing and Creative Director of Star Academy, which she opened at just 19 years old. What began as a dance studio with 20 students has grown into a one-stop shop for hundreds of students, celebrating 15 years in 2026.
