Lucky’s is back for summer, and this year it has moved outdoors. From 20 November to 3 January, the much-loved Adelaide favourite is trading its usual set-up for an open-air clubhouse on Festival Terrace, with the River Torrens below and Adelaide Oval sitting just across the water.

The design is by Hygge, with Dom from Ugly Creative as creative director. The menu comes from Sam Worrell Thompson of EMBR, the hospitality group behind Oliveti, Dolly and Bar Lune. For a summer pop-up, the pedigree is impressive.
From morning coffee to midnight
Lucky’s Club House is an all-day affair. From 7am, Wednesday to Saturday, it serves coffee, smoothies and lighter bites, making it a good start or finish point for a walk along the Riverbank.
At midday the food kiosk and bar open for long lunches and afternoon drinks. On a warm day, a glass of something cold on the terrace, with the river below, is hard to beat.
Pickleball on the terrace
The courts are the centre of Lucky’s Club House. Pickleball is the fast-growing paddle sport that borrows from tennis, badminton and table tennis. It’s easy to pick up and surprisingly competitive once you get going.
From Wednesday to Sunday, courts can be booked between 12pm and 5pm for $20 per court per hour. From 5pm, casual play is free, so you can simply turn up and join in.

Friday and Saturday nights
By 8pm the nets come down and the courts become an open-air dancefloor. On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs keep things going until 1am.
Entry is free all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and before 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. After that, tickets start at $25 online. Door entry on weekend nights depends on capacity, so booking ahead is wise.
For a celebration with friends, private booths for up to 12 guests cost $360, or $500 for up to 20. Both include entry, table service and a four-hour booking. You can choose a Sunset Session from 5pm to 9pm or After Dark from 9pm to 1am. A reserved high bar table for six costs $200, including entry.

Lucky’s New Year’s Eve
The season also brings the tenth edition of Lucky’s New Year’s Eve. The event has sold out every year so far, and there’s a rotating calendar of collaborations and special events in the lead-up. Subscribers get first access to tickets before the public release.
