Harriet Gun and her mum Jane made a new years resolution to spend more time together doing fun things, as a result they decided that an AGSA membership was the perfect solution. Harriet says, ‘Mum and I love popping into the Gallery together, seeing AGSA’s exhibitions and exploring the diverse collection we have here right on our doorstep on North Terrace’.
‘Our all time favourite artist is Clarice Beckett, after seeing her AGSA exhibition The Present Moment in 2021, you can’t help but surrender to the sensory impressions of her everyday world it brings us great joy.’
‘Big Mother by Patricia Piccinini always makes a big impact as you enter Gallery 12. The story behind the work of the baboon who lost her child shows us that a mother’s love it enduring no matter what the species.’
Marg Inglis and her daughter Kath both take great joy in being members, describing it as a gratifying experience where they take inspiration from the works of art which always spark interesting conversation. Most recently they’ve fallen in love with Adelaide Biennial artist Clara Adolph’s work. Kath, a contemporary jeweller, says, ‘Adolph’s beautiful paintings really struck a chord with mum and I, we recently shared a tender moment together. Mum lost Dad a year ago and this work really spoke to her about their youth.’
Marg says, ‘It’s a privilege knowing I can support the gallery in such a small way. My favourite member benefit is the guided tours and then accessing the dedicated members lounge afterwards.
