Guildhouse has announced the next chapter of a celebrated artistic journey: applications are opening for the 2025–2026 Guildhouse Collections Project with Fabrik, a rare opportunity for South Australian artists to dive into the heart of one of the state’s most compelling cultural sites.

Guildhouse invites applications for the 2025–2026 Collections Project at Fabrik – a prestigious residency that merges creative innovation with cultural legacy in one of South Australia’s most evocative sites: the former Onkaparinga Woollen Mill, now known as Fabrik.

This sought-after initiative offers South Australian artists, designers, and craftspeople the chance to immerse themselves in the rich layers of Fabrik’s collection – spanning historical artefacts, textile traditions, and living community stories – and to create a bold new body of work in response. The culmination of the residency will be a solo exhibition in February 2026, set within the transformed industrial heart of the Adelaide Hills.

It’s a rare chance not only to create, but to reflect, research, and reimagine — all while situated in an environment where history and contemporary practice are intricately interwoven. This is not just a studio residency; it’s a deep-dive into South Australia’s cultural and material heritage, with the full backing of Guildhouse’s expert guidance and professional support.

Partnering with Fabrik, the project offers a uniquely textured platform. Here, fabric tells stories, and threads connect generations. Sustainability, culture, and creativity all converge in a space where your voice – and your art – can truly resonate.

What’s on offer

  • A paid residency supporting deep creative research and development
  • Exclusive access to Fabrik’s cultural collections and on-site support
  • A professionally supported solo exhibition in February 2026
