The McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic is returning on 23 April 2023, bringing back the grand parade of motoring history to the streets of the region. Along with the parade comes vintage fashion, local wines, gourmet food, and live entertainment.
The popular family-friendly community event, in its 17th year, is expected to see more than 500 vintage and classic motor vehicles parade along the main street of McLaren Vale. The region provides a stunning backdrop of nearby vineyards and wineries.

After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event’s newly appointed Chairman, Nigel Williamson, is excited to take over the community event and bring the region alive once again with the rumble of motors. “In 2021, the event saw over 500 entrants showcasing their vintage and classic vehicles, with almost 20,000 spectators lining the streets,” says Nigel.
All vehicles will begin their journey on the open lawns located at the front of Serafino McLaren Vale. Here entrants will be able to mingle with fellow car lovers and see the range of period outfits from participants. The Grand Parade will officially commence at 11 am, with all vehicles rolling out of Serafino for the 2km drive along Main Road where thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets to enjoy the motorcade.
After the parade, all spectators and entrants are encouraged to head down to any of the twelve event wineries. A range of vehicles will be on display for visitors to get up close and personal, along with food stalls, wine, and live entertainment. This makes for the perfect Sunday day out with family and friends.
The event’s annual charity dinner will be held the night before on Saturday, 22 April, with a special guest speaker soon to be confirmed. Last year’s charity event was very successful, despite having to be cancelled, as they were still able to donate $10,000 to the local hospital, where funds were used to repair their pergolas. They also managed to donate $5,000 to the Southern Koala & Echidna Rescue for specialist equipment for their new Medical Service Centre. Their two local CFS units also received $500 each for ongoing equipment supplies.

“This just shows how important the McLaren Vale Vintage & Classic event truly is – yes, it’s a great opportunity for locals to come together as well as to showcase our beautiful region to the wider public, but it also gives back to the community, which is a huge reason as to why we put on this event,” says Nigel.
Vehicle registrations are now open, and entries can be completed by filling out the online form, with an entry fee of $35 per vehicle. Vintage, classic, and motorcycle vehicles are all welcome. The deadline for entries is on 20th March 2023. So, for all vintage and classic motor vehicle enthusiasts, be sure to join this once-a-year celebration of the history of motoring in the stunning McLaren Vale region, all while supporting the local community.
