Adelaide Baroque brings intimate house concerts and cathedral classics to Adelaide

Adelaide Baroque returns with a series of intimate house concerts and a powerful cathedral performance.

Adelaide Baroque returns with a captivating mid-year concert series, inviting audiences to experience the beauty, intimacy and expressive power of baroque music across a range of unique settings.

From elegant house concerts to a grand cathedral performance, the series spans centuries of musical history, showcasing works from composers including Bach, Handel, Purcell, Haydn and Beethoven.

Established in 1977, Adelaide Baroque has built a reputation for innovative programming and dynamic performances, working with both leading and emerging baroque musicians to bring this timeless repertoire to life for contemporary audiences.

The 2026 series highlights the contrast between large-scale performance and the deeply personal experience of chamber music.

The house concerts, held in private residences, offer a rare opportunity to hear music as it was originally intended – up close, informal and immersive. These intimate gatherings reflect a long-standing European tradition, where music was shared socially among guests rather than performed on grand stages.

In contrast, the performance of Bach and Handel by the waters of Babylon at St Peter’s Cathedral delivers a powerful, large-scale experience, featuring the St Peter’s Cathedral Choir and a program of celebrated baroque masterworks.

Across the series, audiences can expect music of beauty, energy and emotional depth, brought to life with Adelaide Baroque’s signature vitality.

With limited seating for the house concerts and strong demand for previous seasons, early booking is recommended.
