As many Australians rediscover the joy of shopping local and eating well, the Adelaide Central Market is leading the way with the launch of its new Market Made program — a celebration of handcrafted and exclusive products you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Launched on Wednesday, 15 October, Market Made shines a spotlight on the beating heart of the Market: the dedicated traders and artisans whose products reflect generations of knowledge, skill, and passion.

With more than 1,000 products already featured, Market Made makes it easier than ever for customers to buy local, support South Australian businesses, and experience the quality and uniqueness that only the Central Market can offer.

What is Market Made?

The new initiative highlights two categories of unique offerings:

  • Market Made: Items made on-site by the traders themselves — think handmade, small-batch, authentic.
  • Market Exclusive: Products from well-known brands that are hand-selected by the traders and only available at Adelaide Central Market.

From gourmet pantry staples to fresh produce and delicious ready-made meals, the Market Made label is your guide to one-of-a-kind finds with true South Australian flavour.

General Manager Fabienne Reilly said the launch marks an exciting new chapter for the Market.

We are passionate about the uniqueness of the Market and we’re excited to make it even easier to shop Market Made products. When you’re shopping, simply look for the Market Made logo — which means that product has been hand-crafted or hand-selected by our traders.

Much-loved traders like Gourmet to Go, The Market Bread Bar, and The Mettwurst Shop are just a few of the many participating in the program. Each product tells a story — not just of flavour, but of craftsmanship and tradition.

Longtime trader Tony O’Connell of O’Connell’s Meats, who has been part of the Market for nearly 50 years, says his customers “know that when they shop at the Market, they’re not only getting quality products that you can’t get anywhere else, but also the expert knowledge from the trader who made it”.
