Glenelg Ice Cream Festival set to be the sweetest yet with a triple scoop of SA’s finest

Glenelg Ice Cream Festival
The Glenelg Ice Cream Festival is returning for its biggest and most delicious festival yet on Friday, 12 January 2024, with an expanded Ice Cream Village and will feature three of the state’s top ice creameries.

The popular family-friendly event will transform Jetty Road into a haven for ice cream lovers, inviting guests to indulge in the favourite summer treat while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the Bay and Jetty Road with family and friends.

Kicking off at 4pm, Jetty Road will come alive for a street party featuring an Ice Cream Village with an expanded range of ice cream vendors, including Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company, Freeze and Roll – Thai Fried Ice Cream, Sassi, Shibui Dessert Bar, Gelato Bello, Natura Ice Cream, St Louis House of Fine Ice Cream & Desserts, and Hello Filo Halo.

Three of Adelaide’s top ice creameries, as voted by the South Australian public in the delicious. 100, will also be involved in the festivities, including first place winner Golden North who is known for their signature honey flavour and palm oil-free products, Bottega Gelateria who is committed to providing the most authentic Italian gelato with local fruits, nuts and juice, and Ovo Gelato offering artisanal gelato in a range of classic and unique flavours.

City of Holdfast Bay Mayor, Amanda Wilson, is excited to once again welcome people to the Bay to enjoy a fun-filled evening out.

“Ice cream at the beach during summer is an Australian institution and we have created an all inclusive festival to celebrate this connection while showcasing the very best that Glenelg has to offer.

Since the inaugural event in 2021, Glenelg’s Ice Cream Festival has grown in popularity, becoming South Australia’s biggest festival dedicated to the summer treat.

“We saw crowds of up to 25,000 people at the last event and we’re expecting up to 30,000 in January” she said.

As well as sweet offerings, the one-day festival will have an array of kids’ entertainment including craft activities, a silent disco, and a Scavenger Hunt competition to win a $100 Jetty Road voucher. Face painting and hair braiding will also be available.

Channel 7’s Gertie Spurling, will host fashion parades in Chapel Plaza at 6pm and 7pm showcasing the latest collections from local Jetty Road boutiques such as Attitudes Boutique, Denim and Cloth, Blazae Fashion Emporium, Ghanda and more.

A new sensory zone will be based in Cowper Street near Events Cinemas, offering a quiet space to those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of the street party.

Several of Jetty Road’s popular restaurants and bars will be setting up on-street dining, accompanied with live music rip, to create the perfect outdoor atmosphere for a summer’s evening by the beach.
