Pull up a chair at Tasting Australia 2027

Tasting Australia returns next autumn with ten days of food, wine and connection across Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond returns for its 20th edition next autumn, running from 30 April to 9 May 2027 across Adelaide and regional South Australia.

The festival will once again celebrate the people, produce and places that make South Australian food and wine exceptional, with a program built around connection and shared experiences.

A new curator joins the team

Festival Curators Duncan Welgemoed and Kane Pollard will be joined by Rebecca Hopkins, who takes on the drinks curator role after Meira Harel and Banjo Harris Plane’s four-year tenure.

Hopkins brings more than 25 years of experience across wine, hospitality and lifestyle sectors in Australia and the United States. Having recently returned to live in McLaren Vale after nearly two decades abroad, she’s convinced there’s nowhere better.

“South Australia is the best place in the world to make wine, connect with nature and share those experiences with a passionate community,” Hopkins said.

“For almost two decades this very special festival has welcomed guests in ways that are always uniquely South Australian and delivered with heart. It’s an honour to step into the role and celebrate the world of beverages and the stories they tell.”

South Australia’s culinary moment

The 2027 festival arrives at a significant moment for the state’s food credentials. South Australia will make its debut in the MICHELIN Guide next month, becoming the first Australian destination to feature in the global gastronomic bible.

Minister for Tourism Emily Bourke said the recognition reflects what locals have long known.

“Great food and drink are part of South Australia’s identity, cherished by locals and celebrated by visitors who are consistently impressed by the quality and authenticity of our experiences,” Minister Bourke said.

“Tasting Australia honours that passion.”

Venues invited to join the program

South Australian venues interested in hosting an event as part of the 2027 festival can apply now. Applications close Friday 9 October.

Journey Beyond Executive General Manager of Marketing Justine Lally said the festival brings people together through food, wine and hospitality.

“Some of life and travel’s best memories are created around a table, sharing great food and stories, particularly when you’re discovering somewhere new,” Lally said.
