When two of South Australia’s most respected cultural institutions come together, the result is worth paying attention to. The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Barossa Valley winery Hentley Farm have collaborated on an exclusive wine release to mark the ASO’s 90th anniversary.
The commemorative release is a 2017 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon drawn from Hentley Farm’s Museum Collection. It is a limited release, and proceeds will support the orchestra’s ongoing music-making and programs for future generations.
A partnership that makes sense
Lucy Eckermann, the ASO’s Head of Development, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the best of South Australian culture.
“This commemorative release brings together two iconic South Australian brands to capture a significant milestone in the ASO’s history,” Eckermann said. “We are proud to partner with Hentley Farm to create an exceptional experience that celebrates music, wine and community.”
For Hentley Farm, the partnership felt natural. Chief Operating Officer Stuart Mosman noted the longstanding connection between wine and music.
“Wine and music have long been kindred expressions of creativity, each shaping and reflecting the human experience over centuries,” Mosman said. “At their heart, both exist to bring people together, creating moments of connection and shared enjoyment.”
The winery selected a wine that would reflect the character of an orchestra itself.
“In celebrating their 90th anniversary, we sought to offer a wine that echoes the character of an orchestra: layered, expressive and a blend of many parts,” Mosman said.
Music in every bottle
Each bottle features a QR code that links to an ASO recording personally selected by Chief Conductor Mark Wigglesworth. It is a thoughtful touch that brings the two art forms together in a single experience.
Pre-orders for the Hentley Farm ASO 90th Anniversary Release are available until 14 August 2026.
