Goers reprises the lead role of Elwood P. Dowd, a charmingly eccentric man whose closest companion is a towering invisible white rabbit named Harvey. The production runs at Holden Street Theatres, The Studio, from 4 to 22 November 2025.
Directed by Rosie Aust, this version of HARVEY marks its return to South Australian theatre for the first time in over two decades, featuring a leading local cast carefully assembled by Goers himself. Widely celebrated as one of the funniest and most heartwarming plays ever written, HARVEY’s whimsical charm and feel-good comedy have stood the test of time, inspiring an Oscar-winning film starring James Stewart.
Step into Elwood’s world and explore a story that champions imagination, kindness, and the true meaning of “normal.”
At its heart, HARVEY celebrates the joy of friendship, the beauty of acceptance, and the magic of believing in the unseen.
“I love this work and role and have nursed the ambition to play Elwood again. Thanks to Holden Street Theatres and Rosie Aust, here it is,” says Goers. “Elwood is a much kinder, gentler and more considerate man than me but that’s why I am playing him. Acting is taking a break from yourself.”
Joining Goers is a stellar local cast including Dora Stamos, Rebecca Kemp, Julia Whittle, and Robert Cusenza, bringing depth and delight to this timeless classic.
HARVEY also serves as the grand finale of Goers’ highly acclaimed three-year tenure as Director in Residence at Holden Street Theatres.
“As Peter Goers concludes his role as Director in Residence, we thank him for his generosity, talent and insight. We are thrilled for Peter and the cast for the upcoming production of HARVEY – we can’t wait to see him back on stage,” says Martha Lott, Artistic Director of Holden Street Theatres.
HARVEY is presented by Peter Goers in association with Holden Street Theatres, by arrangement with ORiGiN™ Theatrical on behalf of Dramatists Play Service, Inc. and Broadway Licensing Global.
HARVEY is at Holden Street Theatres, The Studio from 4 to 22 November 2025. Tickets here.
