Adelaide’s southern suburbs have a new full-service hotel. Hurley Hotel Group has officially opened Hotel Panorama on Goodwood Road – a $60 million, five-storey development that brings together accommodation, dining, function rooms and a rooftop bar in a single building, and represents the largest investment in the family business’s history.
The opening also marks one of the biggest hospitality investments Adelaide has seen in recent years. Hotel Panorama has created more than 150 ongoing roles across food and beverage, accommodation, gaming, events and management, with many filled locally.

What’s inside Hotel Panorama
The ground floor is built for everyday hospitality. A café-bar and restaurant seats 90 around a sunken fire lounge, while Sideline – a sports bar with an outdoor beer garden – is anchored by a seven-metre screen for major fixtures. It’s a deliberate mix of relaxed dining and big-night-out atmosphere.
Upstairs, the hotel’s 77 rooms are spread across three levels, including 26 serviced apartments and two Panorama Suites with private balconies, fireplaces and soaking tubs. There’s a gym, laundry facilities and in-room amenities pitched at both short stays and longer ones – useful for visitors coming in for medical appointments, university stays or extended Adelaide holidays.

The rooftop bar and the view
At the top of the building is Wonderland, a rooftop bar with views across the coastline, the city skyline and the Adelaide Hills. The fit-out is unashamedly fun – a gold disco ball pizza oven, ceiling lighting that twinkles, booth seating – and the views do the heavy lifting from there. It’s the kind of room designed to draw locals up for a long Friday afternoon as much as hotel guests heading out for the evening.
Function rooms with history
The function and events offering is significant for the area. The Three Brothers Boardroom, named for owner Peter Hurley’s three great-uncles who lost their lives in World War I, hosts private dining and meetings. On the top floor, the Springbank and Kingston function rooms seat 70 each, or combine for up to 300 guests’ cocktail-style.
‘Hotel Panorama represents the most significant hospitality investment by the Hurley Hotel Group, and one of the most significant seen in Adelaide in recent times,’ says general manager Scott Oakley. ‘We are proud to have created a transformative destination designed to set a new benchmark for Adelaide.’

A southern suburbs anchor
The location is strategic. Goodwood Road puts Hotel Panorama within easy reach of Flinders University, the Tonsley Innovation Precinct, Flinders Medical Centre, the Repat Health Precinct and the South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre – a useful catchment for both visiting families and out-of-town professionals.
The hotel is a collaboration between two South Australian family businesses: Hurley Hotel Group as the developer, Sarah Constructions building it. For publican Peter Hurley, the opening is a family milestone.
‘The Hotel Panorama is the largest investment in our family business to date, and we are incredibly proud to open the doors,’ he says. ‘This project is about more than just a new hotel – it’s about creating jobs, supporting the local economy and delivering a venue that brings people together.’
For locals, it’s a new dining and rooftop option that didn’t exist a year ago. For Adelaide’s south, it’s a sign of where the suburbs are heading.
Hotel Panorama is at Goodwood Road and is open now. Bookings and event enquiries can be made through the Hurley Hotel Group.
