Maxwell Wines: More than a winery

Nestled in the picturesque McLaren Vale region, Maxwell Wines has been a renowned destination for wine enthusiasts since its establishment in 1979.

Founded by Mark Maxwell, the estate encompasses a winery, meadery, vineyards, cellar door, restaurant, maze, and a remarkable 100-year-old lime cave, making Maxwell Wines’ more than a winery but a holistic wine experience.

When visiting the estate, guests are invited to indulge in a range of premium guided experiences. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy Wine Flights with matching canapés, exploring the diverse range of wines produced on-site. For a unique tasting experience, the Winery Heritage Tours provide a deeper insight into the estate’s winemaking process, and followed by a delightful tasting and a fine dining lunch.

For those interested in sustainable viticulture, the Vineyard Sustainability Tour and Tasting is an excellent choice. Guests can learn about the estate’s sustainability practices while sampling their exceptional wines. For a truly extraordinary experience, Maxwell Wines offers a helicopter flight in partnership with Helivista, allowing visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the region before indulging in a fine dining lunch.

The award-winning fine dining restaurant, led by Executive Chef Fabian Lehmann, is an outstanding culinary experience not to be missed. Using the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers, every dish is carefully crafted. As you dine enjoy spectacular views of the winery, vineyards and the Fleurieu Peninsula. The restaurant offers a truly memorable dining experience.

Whether you are a wine enthusiast, a view seeker, or a connoisseur of fine dining, Maxwell Wines in McLaren Vale promises an unforgettable experience. With its commitment to sustainability, exceptional craftsmanship, and culinary excellence, Maxwell Wines is a true gem in the heart of one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions.

100-year-old Lime Cave

Maxwell Wine’s limestone hill has one more surprise. Hidden away behind the winery and the disguise of a tool shed is one of the most intimate and magical subterranean settings, a cave gouged 50 metres into the limestone hill by one man 100 years ago to grow mushrooms.
