A destination for those who appreciate the finer points of pastry has found its permanent home in the Barossa. Maison Cheryse has opened in a beautifully restored 1860s bakery on Murray Street in Greenock, giving owner Cheryse Hill the space she has long dreamed of to share her craft.
The move follows a devoted following built during the business’s tenure at Kaesler Wines. Now, with a purpose-built pastry kitchen and carefully restored interiors, Maison Cheryse offers something more expansive: a place designed for lingering over beautifully brewed Charlie Black coffee, premium tea, or one of Hill’s meticulously crafted plated pastries.
“We want guests to enjoy a slower experience with us,” Hill said. “It’s about inviting people into our home and allowing them to take a little piece of us home with them.”
The heritage building retains many of its original features while being completely reimagined for its new purpose. The result is a warm, welcoming space with pockets for both locals and visitors to settle in and enjoy.
A family story, told through pastry
For Hill, Maison Cheryse represents something deeply personal. “Everything we create reflects who we are as people. This has always been the dream,” she said. “Maison Cheryse is our family’s story. It’s everything we’ve built together, and now we finally have a place to share it with everyone.”
The expanded venue allows the menu to grow too. Alongside the signature handcrafted pâtisserie, seasonal offerings will showcase techniques more commonly associated with fine dining.
“When you have children, you want to show them what it means to follow your dreams and work hard for something you truly believe in,” Hill said.

The new space also brings something entirely new: intimate pastry workshops where guests can learn directly from Hill. A purpose-built studio kitchen allows for demonstrations and hands-on sessions covering croissants, brioche, cake decorating and other pâtisserie techniques.
And this is just the beginning. Plans for future projects are set to launch in late spring, expanding Maison Cheryse into an all-season destination in the heart of the Barossa.
